Canada’s 1987 America’s Cup Contender!
Available for charter in St. Maarten.
Canada II started its life as Canada I, the 1983 Canadian America’s Cup contender. In 1985, Canada I was 4th in the semi-finals of the Louis Vuitton Cup – just behind Australia II, Victory 83 and Azzura. Therefore, when Canada was looking for their 1987 America’s Cup contender they rebuilt the speedy Canada I. Canada II, the rebuilt Canada I, was the 1987 America’s Cup challenger for the Canadian Secret Cove Yacht Club and Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron. Canada II was redesigned by Bruce Kirby and was fitted with a winged keel. Although, Canada II never won the America’s Cup she is generally regarded as being the fastest light air 12 Meter boat in the world.
Today, Canada II is still a sailing speedster and is available for charter at St. Maarten’s 12 Metre Challenge. Contact us for more information!
